The Goddard School®

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes your school different from a daycare?
The Goddard School® specializes in the finest preschool education available. Our teachers are degreed in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Infant-Toddler Education or a Psychology or Sociology-related field. The Goddard School adds the educational component to your child's preschool day. We have a curriculum rich in Language, Art, Music, Science and Math, as well as a focus on Social, Cognitive, Fine and Gross Motor Skills. Each of our classrooms is equipped with computers, and children 27 months and older participate our Spanish Lessons each week.
Do you provide meals?
Parents have two options regarding lunch. You may pack your child's lunch and we have microwaves in the classrooms to re-heat items. For an additional fee, we also provide a catered lunch program though Bob Evans. Parents have two meal options each day, one always meat-less.
If my child attends part-time preschool, will he/she be getting enough from the program? Will he/she get to interact with all of the same children?
Our program is designed around a weekly theme or unit. Each day, our teachers prepare activities that support that theme. All of the activities are changed daily; therefore, your child has the opportunity to experience a variety of activites whether if they attend part-time or full-time. The purpose of our program is to allow children to build the skills that they will need for their entire educational journey. Because our program offers the flexibility of full- and part-time, you will find that the children in attendance vary day by day. Some children are part-time, others are full-time.
Is your school licensed?
The Goddard School® is licensed by the State of Ohio. After twelve months in operation, we can begin the Accredidation Process through NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). We also proudly display our certificate of Quality Assurance checks, which are done periodically.
What are the qualifications of your staff?
Our staff go through an extensive background check through the Criminal Bureau of Investigations as well as the local police department who perform the fingerprinting procedures. We check three references on each employee as well as require the completion of a conviction statement. Our lead teachers are required to have a degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, Psychology or Sociology or a CDA(Child Develpoment Associate). Our Assistant teachers possess the same degree or are currently working toward that, and have experience in this field.
At what age is my child eligible to begin at The Goddard School®?
We accept children from six weeks to six years of age. We have a Private Kindergarten Program for children five and six years old and a Before/After-School enrichment program for children six to twelve years old. In the summer, we have a terrific summer camp program for children up to nine years of age.
